On Saturday, November 16, the Trinity men’s football team fell to the Austin College Kangaroos. This was the Tigers’ last game of the year, and ending the season with a 35-7 loss was difficult for the team.

“We played hard throughout the game and we definitely didn’t give up,” said junior Connor Yorloff, “We just lacked the fight to defeat a highly motivated team like Austin College.”

This was the second time this year that the Tigers played Austin College. The first of which was in late September, which resulted in a 26-3 victory for Trinity.

“We came in to this game knowing it was going to be tough,” said junior Matthew Kennemer. “I felt we were extremely well prepared for this game. It’s just the failure to execute around game time that was the low point. I felt our seniors really played well throughout the game knowing it was going to be their last. It was the most disappointing thing to me not to send out our seniors with a win but I think they did everything they could do in an attempt to win the game.”

While the graduating class of seniors have been an influential part of the team, this year’s first-year class as well as the incoming first-years are expected to play an important role in the future of the team.

“We lost a lot of really good players to injury this year and we are a very young team,” Kennemer said. “We are extremely confident going into this offseason because we know we are getting a lot of great players back from injury and we have a lot of guys returning with experience. We are going to do everything we can to make next season as successful as possible.”

“Despite the disappointing season, we are very excited to improve in all areas this offseason and get Trinity back to the top of the conference,” said assistant coach Brant McAdams.

Ending the season with a 1-2 standing in the SCAC and a 5-5 overall season ratio, the Tigers have hope for the future.
