This week’s editorial is a hodge-podge of events and happenings around campus. The Trinitonian will be on hiatus for the next two weeks, so we are trying to cram as much information and reflection into one paper as possible. Lucking, cramming is our middle name. Thus, without further ado, behold the editorial stuffed editorial a la Trinitonian.
First things first, the front page of this week’s paper features an article by our estimable Luke Wise about the upcoming changes to the mail center. We advise that you, the informed campus community member, keep an eye on this story. Thus far, there seems to be a bit of confusion between who is moving and where they are moving. As it exists in the Coates University Center, the mail center has two parts: the mailboxes and shipping and receiving. Most of the talk has involved moving shipping and receiving to lower campus. Facilities Services would absorb this portion of the mail center, and it will reside in or around Prassel garage. The mailboxes themselves are a different story. There is no consensus yet about where the mailboxes will land. Some have suggested the Tiger’s Den. Others feel that Mabee Dining Hall is better suited to host the boxes. Whatever the final call is, campus will look quite different. Check back in with us for updates.
The second thing that we would like to bring to your attention involves the plethora of sporting events taking place on campus this weekend. Looking to express some school spirit? If you walk anywhere near the Bell Center at any point this weekend, there is a very good chance you will stumble upon a basketball or baseball game. Sit down, stand up, run in circles””do whatever it takes to cheer our teams on to victory!
In the realm of off-campus activities, two very important things are taking place in the immediate future. This weekend is the first weekend of Mardi Gras. We hope and pray that even if you can’t make it this year, you find a way to attend in future years. New Orleans is only eight hours away, and Mardi Gras is too incredible to pass up four years in a row. If you can make it this year, check out Elif Yucel’s tips for surviving the weekend. If you can’t make it, don’t worry. You can have a King Cake shipped to your dorm.
Lastly, Spring Break is next week. Be safe, have fun, party hard, sleep in, make friends, play nice, be cool and don’t Instagram too much. Memories are funnier if you don’t have to look at them through an angst-y filter.
