You probably don’t know me, but if you do, you also probably know that I’ve lived with Rachel Puckett, THE BOSS ASS BITCH of the Trinitonian for the past four years. I’ve begged her probably a million times to put me in the paper, but she just brushes me off”¦ UNTIL NOW, where she can’t deny my contribution.
Except now I have no words, so I’m going to start off with hers: “Do what makes you happy.” I have and I will, always. At times, these words were like a mockingjay in a tree; other times, they kept me alive (okay, that’s dramatic) or from making bad choices. Actually, I probably still made the bad choices, but I was happy at the time, and Rachel was there to pick up the pieces in the aftermath (again, dramatic, but bear with me). I don’t know where I would be today without her, and I am surely glad she endured that horrible dubstep phase I went through freshman year. Rachel and I did so much dumb shit that year (like watching ALL of “Laguna Beach”). When I look back on it, though, we were mostly cutting edge. Now she’s the P. Diddy to my Jonah Hill in our own senior-year version of “Get Him to the Creek.”
But let’s get to the point. This is not a love letter to Rachel Puckett for finally letting me be in the Trinitonian, but rather a look back to see how far I’ve grown during my time at Trinity. If you’ve seen my Twitter or any of my housemates’ who quote me frequently, you know I still have miles to go. But hey, that’s what the next chapter of my life is for, right?
I have learned so much both in and out of class at Trinity. I have also found friends who mean the world, sun and moon to me. To the beavers of The Creek, I love you dearly. Housing did it right putting us all on Herndon. We should get a trophy for being the best. Not that I’m competitive and like winning things. You guys are lifelong friends whom I’ll always value, so you’re stuck with me.
This senior column wouldn’t be complete without a shout-out to the dive team. With every year, the team changes, but this year has been one for the books. I love you guys a whole lot and couldn’t have asked for a better group to have around. Or dance around on deck with. Or cry. Or eat Monster Mix. Or Froyo. Or hangout in the lib. You guys are amazing and I’ll miss you so much.
The SWUG life’s been good to me, but now it’s time to move forward. My years at Trinity have been great, and now I am excited to see what is next. I plan on always doing what makes me happy and know I will keep these friends I’ve made close. Congrats, class of 2014! We’re almost there!
