What were two highlight moments of your athletic career at Trinity?
The conference meet my freshman year and nationals last year are probably my two highlights. Despite the fact that I was hurt, I earned gold in the 4x400m relay and the high-jump as a freshman at conference. This earned me the newcomer of the year award. The national meet was the culmination of all of my hard work, and it was an amazing experience. I placed better than I was supposed to, and I look forward to going back this year.
Which meet was the most heated/intense?
That freshman year conference meet was probably the most intense meet I’ve ever been in. Our team was not supposed to do as well as it did, and a lot of the other schools were taking notice.
What is your favorite or funniest tradition that your team had?
My favorite tradition has definitely been dinner at Main Street Pizza. For a long time the team would go to the restaurant every Thursday, and it definitely brought us a lot closer together.
What other organizations were you a part of at Trinity?
I was a part of the ACM (Association of Computing Machinary) and the LOL club.
What is a memorable non-athletic moment of your time at Trinity as a student?
When I was a freshman I spent about 16 hours working on my final project for my second level programming class. It was a fun project that involved networking and multithreading, I think that I was trying to write tic-tac-toe as a multi-player (different computers) game. It took me forever to figure out how to get the networking elements to function, but I was SO happy when it started working.
Do you plan to continue track events competitively after college?
I hope to keep running and jumping after college. I’m not sure how competitive I’ll be, but I’ll definitely keep doing it.
What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned while participating on the track team at Trinity?
You always have to keep working. Even if you are really good at something, if you stop working at it you won’t be anymore.
Favorite sports team and player:
I like the Houston Rockets and the Torronto Raptors. My favorite player is probably Vince Carter. As a high jumper, I tend to respect people who have the ability to jump. Vince Carter jumped over a 7’2 Frenchman. I also respect that he’s 37 years old and still managing to contribute to a very good basketball team.
What are you going to miss most about playing for Trinity?
I’m going to miss everything about being a Trinity athlete. This program has been amazing to me, and I am so glad to have been a part of it.
