Trinity men’s soccer team increased their overall record to 9-1-0 after a win over Schreiner last Friday. The Tigers remain undefeated in conference play with a record of 4-0-0.

The Tigers started off the game  with a goal from senior Johnny Lawson in the third minute. First year Brent Mandelkorn added two more goals in the 11th and 16th minutes of the match, bringing the score to 3-0.

Sophomore Callum Squires capped off the first half with a goal in the 32nd minute of the first half, bringing the score to 4-0 at the half.

Junior Victor Araujo kicked off the second half with two goals in the first six minutes of the half, bringing the lead to 6-0.

First year Nate Dauphin scored the final goal of the match on a long-range shot to bring the final score to 7-0 in favor of the Tigers.

“The Schreiner result was a good result. We scored some great goals in the second half, but the best thing about that game was how quickly we started. We started off very strong, and were very dynamic from the kickoff,” said assistant coach Edward Cartee.

On Monday night, head coach Paul McGinlay led the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Texas Lutheran University. This win was McGinlay’s 400th win since taking over the team in 1991. McGinlay entered this season with the highest winning percentage of any men’s soccer coach in the NCAA and led the Tigers to a National Championship in 2003.

The game was close throughout regulation.

“It was a close game and a nice goal from my teammate Emmanuel [Raranje],” said senior Simon Uribe

The only scoring play in the 400th win came from Raranje in the 31th minute.

“It was a tough game, but we worked hard and got the win,” said senior Roberto Camaro.

The Tigers play again at 6 p.m. tonight at home against Centenary.
