First, let me just say that Saturday, May 16, 2015 will be a day I’ll never forget. I have been through so much at Trinity that I am mentally and physically exhausted.

I did my fair share in four years, and now I must leave.  People are always asking, “Will you miss Trinity?” Umm, no. Well not within the next few years.

I’ll miss the friends, faculty and staff that I have made long-lasting friendships with. (Maybe I’ll even miss breakfast with Dean Tutts?)   The Trinity bubble has to be popped in order for me to breathe.

I’m definitely that student that has been overly involved and didn’t really ever have the “college life” that everyone, even I, expected.  However, I can’t fault anyone but myself, because I chose a university that really focuses on the importance of academics and education.

The best experience Trinity has given me was the opportunity to study abroad my senior fall semester. (I strongly encourage students to study abroad.  It’s a life-changing experience.)

I have to give a shout out to all the strong and determined seniors that haven’t given up. Don’t think we all have “senioritis.” We are fighting to the end.  It’s just somehow we ended up with those difficult courses that require three papers, four presentations, two exams, while we work 20 hours every week. There is not enough time in a day to do all this, give it your 100 percent, and have a decent amount of sleep.  Professors, please just know that we tried to give you all our best.

Now, I can’t speak for those seniors with the mindset they don’t have to do anything because they’re a senior.

I have some advice/remarks I need to share to rising seniors and future seniors.  Don’t stress yourself out trying to figure out what’s next after graduation! The first half of my senior year could have been free from unnecessary stress.

If you don’t know what you want to be or do after college, stay calm (or go see Career Services!). Our society leads us to believe that we must have a job after graduation. It took me from January to the end of March to finally realize that I am going to take a nice little break (with a part-time job) and gather my thoughts so I can go off into the real world.  Don’t let people intimidate you to thinking you have to go to graduate school if that isn’t in your plans.

In addition, don’t rush your process. Take your time and things will follow through.  As a believer, I know that God has a plan for me and He will show me the way when the time is right.

I’m looking forward to Saturday, May 16. My mission will be completed and shortly after, I’ll be heading to Beijing for an internship.  Understand that even though I may not have gotten that “college experience,” I have unforgettable memories that I have Trinity University to thank for.

Trinity has helped me grow into a young woman that WILL be going somewhere. I wish the best to all my classmates of 2015.  WE MADE IT!

P.S. Someone notify Alumni Relations and tell them not to contact me within the next five to 10 years. If they need some money, they should go to Student Accounts and ask them for some of the money my family has given to this university.
