On Friday, September 4 Carolyn Bonilla, a secretary within the English department, passed away after a car crash according to an email sent out to the Trinity community by Susie Gonzalez, the director of public and media relations.
According to the email Bonilla had worked at Trinity since 2008 in serveral different positions around campus and returned in July after a small break from the university. Edwin Blanton the associate director for experiential learning and the coordinator for community service and engagement had worked with Bonilla in the past.
“I started working at Trinity within a few weeks of Carolyn. At that time we both worked in the same department, and I probably saw her every day for six years,” Blanton said.
Blanton recalled the positive energy of Bonilla and noted the loss within the Trinity community.
“Carolyn was a wonderful colleague, a great team player, and always had a wonderful sense of humor about the work that she did,” Blanton said. “She will be greatly missed.”
Bonilla is additionally known through Jamie Thompson the director of Student Involvement and is survived by a number of different family members including her parents and children according to the email.
Carolyn Bonilla will be greatly missed by the university as well as the Trinity community.
A memorial service has not been announced yet.
