Last season, Trinity men’s basketball earned 23 wins en route to a playoff berth. The team relied on experienced veterans and new talent to break through with a triple-headed threat that could score all over the court. One of the faces of this dynamic team was Jacob Harvey, a senior returning for his final year in the 2024-2025 season.
“First, what were your thoughts on how last season went for you guys?”
“It started off really good. [A] lot of wins and not a lot of losses at the beginning of the year. … We’re almost returning everybody back this year, and we know that we can win a bunch of games. We know we can make a deep playoff run. We’re all excited to get after and start playing games again.”
“How does bringing back a lot of players help when you’re prepping for the upcoming season?”
“The guys that are returning, we all know each other pretty well. We’ve played with each other for an entire year or multiple years. So that sort of chemistry and gelling together makes it easy. We were all pretty close, and so it makes playing and playing tough games a lot easier.”
“You got to do a bunch of stuff internationally last summer with Trinity and the summer before that with Team USA. What was that experience like?”
“The Team USA stuff was awesome, and so much fun. I mean, putting on the Team USA jersey is always my dream of mine, and always something I wanted to do. … This past summer, I was playing with two kids from Butler and two kids from Princeton who I’ve never met before, so that was a little different experience, but awesome. That just kind of speaks to the opportunities that arise at Trinity that wouldn’t happen if I wasn’t here. The Germany trip was so much fun. … It was a fun trip to bond and get close to the guys. I was injured — I actually broke my hand before we left — so I didn’t play any games over there, but it was cool to sort of be a coach and watch the guys perform.”
“You’ve been one of the most consistent offensive contributors for the team. What goes into that consistency?”
“It all comes from hard work. Getting in the gym, staying in the gym, doing productive work, actually working on things. And I like to shoot threes, so I’m obviously shooting a bunch. Like Steph Curry always talks about working on the little things, the little details, and it makes him the best shooter ever.”
“The three-ball was the big calling card last season. What led to that, and how are you planning on carrying that over this year?”
“We like to play fast and spread out. I mean, last year we played with a lot of guards in the perimeter and got a lot of shots up. It always helps when you’re playing fast, just a lot of threes happen, and think we have a lot of good shooters. So that’s a big focus for us. … We have even more shooters this year, with some freshmen coming in, so it’ll be fun. I’m really excited to start playing games again.”
“What was the big draw that interested you in Trinity during recruiting?”
“I remember doing my visit here. Trinity was the last visit I took. I remember coming on campus and walking around. We went to dinner with the coaches, walked around, met some of my future teammates and people around here and walked around campus. It just felt like home, and that’s the place I want to be. Now we’re here and still playing basketball, so it’s all crazy how it kind of worked out.”
“You guys have a ton of road games to start the year. Does that help you guys bond on long road trips?”
“Our first home game isn’t until December. Hopefully, we’re able to have an opportunity to host the first round of the NCAA tournament this year, but we know that after that first round, we’re gonna be on the road, flying somewhere up north and it’s gonna be a far trip. Learning how to play on the road and win on the road is big, especially when you’re traveling back-to-back games on the road. … It’s hard not to gel with the guys when you have delays or just hang out in the airport. Some guys play cards, some guys just hang out or play games with each other on their phones but we all have fun.”
“What’s something you’re excited about?”
“I’m just excited to be soaking in my last year at Trinity. I’m glad to be taking in the little things like team dinners or the small details and the moments.”
“What’s something you want to say to the readers?”
“I think it’s gonna be a fun year. We’re gonna be an exciting team to watch on the floor. We have a lot of seniors graduating this year, so I guess you can say our last dance. It’s fun to come and watch games, and we’re excited to perform this year and play well and hopefully finish off the year with some big accomplishments and some hardware.”

Maybe Caleb could ask why neither TUBB team’s web browser roster has been updated for the current season.
