STAFF CHATS
Senior strategist and project manager Michelle Bartonico presented the new Workday student portal to SGA. Trinity will fully transition from TigerPAWS to Workday Student on March 17. Bartonico gave SGA a tour of the new software and invited them to submit feedback. Both Junior Senator Josh Mitra and Senior Senator Blaine Martin had issues with the cluttered main dashboard and asked whether it would be customizable. Bartonico said that the dashboard was not customizable, but she would take the criticism back to the team and see what could be implemented. Otherwise, SGA accepted the portal, and all senators agreed that the new website was far better than TigerPAWS.
Rachel Boaz Toppel and Dylan Pflum, residential life coordinators, presented updates on Residential Life to SGA. They spoke to senators about StarRes, the new software for housing applications, which they said will be more user-friendly for both students and residential staff. They told senators about a new campus master plan and strategic plan that Residential Life would present privately later that night. They said that Residential Life is fully staffed for the first time in three and a half years.
Boaz Toppel and Pflum then opened the floor to questions. Senior Senator Jackson Delhagen asked about the new meal plan. Boaz Toppel and Pflum responded that Residential Life has no hand in the new meal plans and referred SGA to Business Services. They clarified that the dorms on the top floor of Verna McLean Hall that upperclassmen currently live in would stay that way and Residential Life will advertise them as dorms with no wallmates and a great view. Boaz Toppell also mentioned the idea of block housing requests in the future, where organizations, athletic teams or other Trinity groups could request to live together. This idea was received very well by SGA.
BYLAWS VOTING
Senators unanimously approved the new SGA election committee, which will run in future SGA elections. The new members of the committee are: President Joy Areola, Vice President Allison Waters, Chief of Staff Harrison Tinker, Senior Senator Johnny Kousa, Senator Jackson Delhagen, Senator Josh Mitra and Sophomore Senator Maya Tsai. However, SGA skipped voting on the new bylaws and will vote on them later.
