Parting words from Dr. Moffett

As I reflect on my three years working at Trinity, I can truly say this has been a wonderful opportunity both professionally and personally. As my last few days approached I was thinking about when I interviewed. Everyone was pleasant and warm and I thought to myself that people were putting on airs and this place couldn’t possibly be this hospitable ““ admittedly, I was wrong. Trinity and San Antonio have a charm that is simply amazing. During my time here, I have been met with nothing but support and kindness, except when folks found out I was a Lakers fan, but we all managed to get over that roadblock in about 0.4 seconds.

Seriously, I have enjoyed serving the students, faculty, staff, community partners and alumni at Trinity. Very few days felt like work. The hours were long, but I drove away from campus every evening feeling like I put my best foot forward and sincerely tried to help make a difference in the lives of others. It has been a true blessing to live, learn and lead in a community where individuals want to grow and be the best version of themselves. During these last three years everyone (especially in CCI and the Division of Student Affairs) has provided me tremendous support and through your encouragement and assistance we have been able to excel at providing students with a dynamic co-curricular experience. With many of my Trinity family, I have shared a unique and special bond which I hope will continue in the years to come. Even though I won’t be here physically, know that I will never be out of touch. Relationships are a two way street and I am committed to staying in touch by any means.

Although I am excited about the opportunity and challenge of my new position, I will admit with a heavy heart that leaving Trinity is bittersweet. To the students ““ continue to exemplify all that is great about this institution and don’t take the faculty and staff for granted. Be responsible, find your passion, have fun, study hard, and maximize your potential (I had to sneak that in there one more time). To the staff ““ continue to serve, support and challenge our students, but find time to take care of your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. To the faculty ““ continue to provide a challenging academic experience. Your efforts are preparing our students for greatness. To the alumni ““ always seek to build bridges that will connect you to the undergrads. They absolutely love interacting with you. To Trinity University ““ I love you, I appreciate you, I thank you and I will never forget you.  Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will do the same. I wish everyone peace and blessings.

Raphael Moffett is the outgoing Director of Campus and Community Involvement.
