The Trinity women’s soccer team finished out their weekend with two shutout victories against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs and Schreiner Mountaineers.

Both matches were Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games.

The Tigers took on the Bulldogs on Oct. 25 with a score of 5-0, led by a record tying four goals scored by first-year forward Endaisia Love.

Love joined four other Tiger players on the four-goal plateau for a single game. Trinity’s last four-goal performance occurred 10 years ago, in October 2003, when Kate Semmler went on a scoring spree against Millsaps.

“Initially, I didn’t even know that I beat a record. I’m happy about it. I’m just glad that I was able to contribute to help the team win,” said Love.

Love scored three consecutive goals, starting in the 52nd minute. She was assisted by senior midfielder Michelle Lanier and junior midfielder Kelsey Falcone on the opening score, which was the eventual game-winner.

Just over a minute later, Love scored off a rebound shot from junior midfielder Emily Jorgens. Love’s third goal came in the 65th minute, on a long midfield cross from Lanier.

Falcone added a goal in the 66th minute, as Lanier sent her the ball from a corner kick. It marked Lanier’s third assist of the game. Love then wrapped up her historic game in the 82nd minute, on an assist from senior defender Jennifer White.

Love was selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals and an assist in the Tigers’ SCAC shutout road wins””with each game-winning goal coming from Love.

The Tigers then competed against the Schreiner Mountaineers on Oct. 27 which also ended with a score of 5-0.

“Our season has gone really well. We’ve had our ups and downs, but that’s a part of  the game. I’m very proud of the team. We’ve had a good season and hopefully we can continue this level of play into playoffs,” said assistant coach Owen Collie.

Love scored the opening goal, in the 17th minute, with an assist from Jorgens. Senior  forward Shelby Guenthardt put one past the keeper in the 35th minute, on an assist from Falcone. Guenthardt has now scored 47 career goals (12 this season), and tied Lindsay Rowland (2001-2003) for fourth place on Trinity’s scoring list.

Two minutes later, Falcone gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead, with Jorgens picking up her second assist of the game. Jorgens is in second place in Trinity’s record books with 48 career assists.

Falcone opened the second half with a solo goal in the 47th minute. Jorgens then combined with Love for a goal in the 50th minute of play.

“Our team goals for the rest of the season would be to finish first in our conference, win the SCAC tournament, and continue to go as far as we can in the NCAA tournament. I would love to accomplish all of these goals as well as win a National Championship for our seniors. They have worked so hard the last four years, and it would be a great way for them to finish out their time here at Trinity,” Guenthardt said.

Trinity wraps up its regular-season campaign Nov. 1 with a SCAC game at 6 p.m. against Southwestern University in Georgetown, and a home game Sunday against UC Santa Cruz (Calif.) at 10 a.m. The Tigers will be top seed at the SCAC Women’s Soccer Championship Nov. 8-10 in Seguin. A conference championship would automatically qualify the Tigers for the NCAA playoffs.
