Eight SGA members of all years were given a tour of the construction site for Trinity’s new Welcome Center and Event Hall by site leaders amidst student concerns regarding disruptions to walkways and distractions to studying. Before the tour, the SGA members were shown floor plans and informational sheets regarding the site’s progress and features were handed out. During the tour, construction leaders showed off the site’s progress and gave further information on what to anticipate upon opening.
The tour gave further information of what to expect from the project, highlighting the Welcome Center’s circular orientation theater, an anticipated amenity for guests and prospective students. The tour also showcased other elements of the new site, such as a new cafe, spirit shop and walkway connecting the Welcome Center to the Elizabeth Huth Coates Library.
Additionally, the event hall adjacent to the Welcome Center will hold a lobby, a divisible hall which will be able to be divided into smaller rooms and a catering kitchen with full seating capacity of 340.
Rohit Shetty, SGA senator and senior accounting major, expressed enthusiasm for the project and what it will add to the school’s future.
“I’m super excited for another dining option that isn’t Mabee, and for the event hall,” Shetty said. “I can definitely see the student concern with the meal plan prices and the cost of construction, but I think it’s a step in the right direction, especially with getting the most out of campus. I wish I could be here next semester.”
The site’s completion is still scheduled for September 2026, with the buildings set to open for campus use soon after the semester begins.
