United Way campaign update

The 2012 United Way Campaign brought in $58, 837.75 with 53 percent of faculty and staff participating, tying the previous participation record set in 2009.

Edwin Blanton, coordinator for community service and engagement, believes that although the total amount raised decreased from last year’s total, the difference, of about $60, is not significant.

“We could guess a lot as to what caused the difference,” Blanton said. “In the end $60 isn’t much a difference for such a large campaign.”

Many other San Antonio area colleges participate in the United Way Campaign, and, although larger schools raised more money than Trinity last year, Trinity ranked first in amount donated per capita.

“We’re a much smaller school than University of Texas, San Antonio for example, but when it comes to amount per capita Trinity is the most generous,” Blanton said.

United Way is a non-profit organization that works throughout the United States to strengthen communities.
