Women’s Leadership Summit set to inspire women in the workforce

Womens Leadership Summit set to inspire women in the workforce

On Saturday April 30, Trinity will host a summit of female leaders designed to empower and inspire young women and prepare them as future members of the workforce.

Sharon Schweitzer issued a press release with the details of the event.

“The Trinity University Women’s Leadership Summit will offer young women an opportunity to connect with area business and civic leaders in a day of learning, inspiration and networking. Presented by H-E-B in association with Trinity’s School of Business, the Women’s Leadership Summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in Trinity’s Stieren Theater,” Schweitzer said.

Alison Campion, a member of the organizing committee for the summit, explained that the event will feature multiple renowned speakers that will discuss topics such as networking and self confidence.

“The Trinity University Women’s Leadership Summit will feature a day of talented and nationally renowned speakers. The event will include opportunities for the Trinity and San Antonio communities to learn about the power of presence, self-confidence, mentoring and networking. We are particularly excited to announce our keynote speaker: Amy Cuddy. She’s a social psychologist, and her research focuses on the power of body language,” Campion said.

Campion discussed how the summit was created through a survey sent out by the women’s leadership initiative.

“The vast majority of respondents wished that they had had more networking and mentoring opportunities. Specifically, many of the women felt unprepared to enter the workforce because they were discouraged by the gender inequality we face today. The Summit was our response. We aim to inspire women. We hope that women leave this conference with new skills they can immediately implement in their lives,” Campion said.

In a press release for the event, the summit was described as being intended to inspire and connect young women.

“Our intention is to establish the Trinity University’s Women’s Leadership Summit as an important annual event that inspires and empowers young women while connecting them with business and civic leaders in our community,” said Paige Fields, dean of Trinity’s School of Business.

SGA is subsidizing the event, making tickets to attend only $10. This price includes the cost of Cuddy’s book, a lunch and the opportunity to learn from highly inspirational speakers.

“There are so many reasons why students should attend the event. For only $10, thanks to SGA subsidizing the tickets, students will receive a copy of Amy Cuddy’s book, lunch and a chance to see and learn from some amazing speakers,” said Campion. “Students will learn tips for how to network effectively, find a mentor, convey confidence, embrace their purpose and be a high-impact leader. I can not stress enough how inspirational our speakers are. Students will leave with a wealth of information and with a renewed sense of purpose.”
