The Student Government Association (SGA) announced the results of the run-off election for the 2023-2024 vice president position via email on April 7. The run-off between rising senior Caterina Mora and rising junior Ani Siva occurred due to neither candidate receiving a majority vote.

Mora was elected vice-president and next school year will serve alongside the reelected president rising senior Danny Nguyen who ran unopposed. During the 2023-2024 school year, Mora was treasurer for SGA.

SGA announced the president and senators for the 2023-2024 school year on March 30. Voting for this election cycle ran from March 27 to April 7, with 807 students casting their votes. This voter turnout is a significant increase in comparison with the 606 votes from the 2023-2023 elections according to Donya Ahmadi, vice president of SGA for the 2022-2023 school year.

Mora, junior Economics and Business Analytics major, was elected vice president, along with Danny Nguyen, junior communication and marketing double major and incumbent president, who won the presidential election for a consecutive year. Nguyen stated that he is looking forward to his work next year.

“In my time as senator, the position I started as in SGA, I’ve seen the great work that past presidents have done before me…I look forward to building upon these different initiatives,” Nguyen said. “Now, this upcoming year, we need to expand upon that and also refine what we’ve done previously. So, I’m super excited to take on this challenge in this new year, so let’s see where it takes us.”
