Launched in 2021, Fetii is an Austin-based company that promotes ride-sharing groups to travel in decorated party buses and has begun to target a college audience. After one member of a group books a ride on-demand or schedules it for later, Fetii picks up groups of 5 to 15 people. Passengers pay once the car arrives by scanning their QR code and then they can hop in for the night.
CEO Matthew Iommi began his journey with Fetii during his senior year of college at Texas A&M. After he found himself driving groups of his fellow A&M peers around for a party bus business he owned, Iommi realized the demand for services like his.
“It all started when I purchased a party bus, delving into the world of group transportation,” Iommi said. “Through this experience, I noticed a significant gap in the market — there was a lack of convenient and efficient ways for groups to travel together. This realization served as the catalyst for the birth of Fetii.”
Iommi teamed up with co-founder Justin Rath to set up for a new form of transportation.
Rath and Iommi took on the challenge and began hiring drivers and getting vehicles to expand their dreams. Fetii is now operational in three states and has transported over a million passengers.
Iommi shared that Fetii is not just a business pursuit for him, but has been a labor of love that was motivated by the aspiration to improve group transportation and create a community. With their newest expansion to San Antonio, Fetii’s team is excited to bring new adventures and see their visions come to light here in the Alamo city.
“Our goal with Fetii has always been ambitious yet straightforward — to become the brand of our generation, facilitating memorable experiences and fostering connections for groups not just locally, but globally. Our strategy has been strategic and deliberate, targeting key cities and college towns where our services are in high demand,” Iommi said. “Currently, Fetii operates in every major Texas metro area and several prominent college towns across the state. Additionally, we’ve expanded our footprint beyond Texas, with a presence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. These locations were carefully selected based on market research and demand analysis, allowing us to effectively meet the needs of our diverse customer base.”
Cecilia Duno, first-year psychology major, has taken a Fetii quite a few times now and loves it. Duno shared that she always books Fetiis with her friends.
“When I heard Fetii was coming to San Antonio, I was so excited. I used to take Fetiis with my friends in other cities and could not wait to take them when it came to San Antonio,” Duno said. “I am literally taking one tomorrow with my friends to go to a date party for our sorority in downtown San Antonio. It’s going to be so much fun. I love playing music and just hanging out and having enough space for my friends and I too in the party bus.”
Fetii offers free rides to university clubs and organizations as a way for them to introduce themselves to a key demographic of young, social and tech-savvy individuals. They also have done humorous interviews on college campuses, offering students free rides if they call their ex-partners or prank their friends.
Offering these free rides to them is seen as their way of aligning with their broader mission of fostering connections and memorable experiences for all. Fetii’s presence in San Antonio has captured their audiences of students, sports fans, event-goers and even corporate clients. Students from institutions such as Trinity, UTSA and St. Mary’s University have been using Fetii already to go to explore the city with friends, a night out or whatever it may be.
Yukari Roskamp is also a first-year student but still has yet to take Fetii. Roskamp has heard lots about Fetii, especially as an international student without a vehicle.
“My first Fetii ride is this week and I can’t wait to get one and try it with my friends,” Roskamp said. “I think the concept is so cool, and I want to start using it a lot more. I’ve never heard of something like it and it honestly is such a smart idea.”
Fetii holds endless possibilities for their future and they hope to globalize their platform even more, expanding past Texas and the southern United States. With the convenience, reliability and effectiveness of the company, they hope to carry out their mission of safe, flexible, positive and social outcomes for individuals.
“In essence, our vision for the future of Fetii is one where we continue to push boundaries, challenge norms and redefine the way people think about group transportation,” Iommi said. “We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our customers, drivers and communities around the world.”
