On Oct. 29, shortly after 2 p.m., a car drove into Chapman Fountain. The driver was coming up Rosewood Avenue and fell asleep at the wheel, according to Trinity University Police Department (TUPD) Chief Paul Chapa.
No one was harmed in the crash, Chapa said. The structure of the fountain was damaged, and Facilities Services will assess the extent of the damage and decide plans to rebuild it, according to Chapa.
The driver declined to comment, and Chapa said he could not disclose their name to the Trinitonian. TUPD will not be pressing charges, according to Chapa.
