Consultants from JED Campus visited Trinity’s campus last week to contextualize and collect further information about student mental health, according to Trinity administration.
The JED Campus Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving student mental health, has been working alongside Trinity since last semester to bring JED Campus to Trinity students.
From Feb. 3-5, consultants visited to assess the Healthy Minds Survey results and consider how to apply them to Trinity, according to Andrew Wells, vice president of Student Affairs and executive sponsor of Trinity’s JED Campus initiative.
“I would not be responsibly stewarding my resources or time if I was not looking to identify ways to improve the work that we’re doing for students,” Wells said. “We share, as a priority, mental health, and so now we are doing JED campus.”
On Feb. 4, JED held a meeting with campus staff and organization partners to discuss the results of the student survey, seeing what it illustrates regarding students’ mental health. Additionally, consultants toured Trinity for physical facilities and infrastructure, and a focus group of students met with a JED representative to discuss action items further.
The JED campus project, launched in September 2025, is functioning as an external assessment of the university’s policies regarding student mental health and available resources. JED and Trinity are working together to establish new and strengthen existing support systems, according to Wells.
In the fall, the Healthy Minds Survey measured students’ mental health across multiple different areas, and staff and campus partners took a baseline assessment to gauge how Wells and other JED officials could train faculty to discuss mental health issues.
