Beginning next year, senior students who remain on campus will be able to choose the Tiger 100 meal plan, which gives them 100 meal swipes per semester and $200 Bonus Bucks, for $1,082.50 per semester.
The Tiger 100 meal plan was previously only available to seniors who were living off-campus. However, given the recently announced renovations to Murchison Lounge, Residential Life Director Rachel Boaz Toppel recognized the need for a balance between on-campus dining options and upperclassmen independence.
“The introduction of new kitchen facilities means that any senior living in the residence halls will have access to a kitchen,” Toppel said. “We also recognize their desire for some autonomy, and so we wanted to make that option available to them so they could get the best of both worlds.”
Murchison’s new kitchen is set to be implemented during the summer break. The registration for housing next semester opened Feb. 23 in the Trinity Housing Portal, where students can also select their meal plan.
Trinity announced the change almost a year after removing the upperclassman meal plan for the 2025-2026 school year, which provided $2,364 Bonus Bucks without meal swipes. Last year’s changes introduced the Bronze, Silver and Maroon plans for on-campus students to replace the Flex 200, Flex 240 and Flex Unlimited options.
Overall, changes such as limiting meal swipes to a “per week” basis, lowering the overall amount of Bonus Bucks for each plan and raising costs were met with an overall negative reaction from students. Trinity Dining explained their decision at the time was motivated by the desire to place more emphasis on Mabee Dining Hall.
