Go get some culture at monthly art events

The conflation of school work and crummy weather that November has to offer influences even the best of students to avoid the real world. However, instead of escaping this month’s dreariness with Netflix, escape the dreariness at any one of the numerous and close monthly art events.

 

McNay Second Thursdays

600 North New Braunfels

San Antonio, Texas 78209

Patronize a local food truck while enjoying a concert on the museum’s lawn. Bring a blanket or a couple of lawn chairs. This not only includes free beer (yes, you read that right), but free admission to the museum).

pARTy at SAMA- 2nd Friday Happy Hour

200 West Jones Ave

San Antonio, Texas 78215

On every second Friday of each month the museum spotlights one of their showings by pairing it with a complementary cocktail and a music selection chosen by KRTU Jazz 91.7. This event is free with museum admission.

Next one: November 8 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.

 

2nd Friday Art Walk in Tobin Hill

527 E Dewey Place

San Antonio, Texas 78212 Explore six different art venues with a stroll through the Tobin Hill neighborhood. The walk starts at La Casa Rosa Art Studio. Light refreshments are provided. The event is free.

Second Saturday Art and Wine

1109 S. Main

Boerne, TX 78006

Check out neighboring Boerne’s monthly art walks. There is complimentary parking, a complimentary trolley to take you to each gallery and back, complimentary wine and appetizers. There is also no admission fee.

Sunday Jazz at the Witte

Bring along some blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the King William Jazz Collective in the museum’s riverfront amphitheater. You will also be supporting Trinity University as well because the event is co-hosted with KRTU Jazz 91.7. The event is included with museum general admission. It is free for Witte and KRTU members.

First Thursday

King William Cultural Art District

The unique neighborhood hosts an art walk every first Thursday. You can view the galleries showing at First Friday, but with significantly less crowds. This event is free.

Next one: December 5, starts at 6:00 p.m.

King William Cultural Art District

Warm up before the First Friday Pub Run  at the make-shift galleries that form along the side of the streets in the King William  and Southtown area. This event is a great opportunity to support local arts and it is free.
