After winning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship for women’s indoor track and field and finishing second in the conference for men’s, Trinity sent two field athletes to compete in Birmingham, Alabama, at the National Championships on March 13 and 14. Sophomore Annabelle Lanik and senior Bocar Diagana each qualified for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Indoor Championships for the first time.
Lanik qualified for the meet in the women’s long jump, marking the second consecutive NCAA Championship she has competed in the women’s long jump in as many years. In the spring of 2025, Lanik finished in third place as a first-year student at the Outdoor Championships. Lanik followed that performance up with a second third-place finish in Birmingham. Lanik’s best jump of the meet was 5.88 meters, which placed her just .03 meters away from a silver medal. Lanik’s bronze medal earns her a second All-American honor, making her one of just three women in program history to have done so more than once. Lanik is also one of two women in program history with multiple top-three finishes in an event.
Diagna’s performance was also reminiscent of his performance at the 2025 Outdoor Championships. He finished in 16th-place in the men’s triple jump for the second NCAA Division III track and field championship in a row. In doing so, he earned his second team All-American honor. Last year, Diagna was the first Trinity man to earn an All-American honor in jumps since 2022, and now he has done it twice in as many seasons.
Lanik and Diagna will both now join the rest of their team in preparations for the outdoor season, which begins at Texas Lutheran University on March 21. The two athletes will look to improve on their several outdoor program records this season, Lanik in the 100-meter and long jump, and Diagna in the triple jump.
