Baseball
After losing their last three-game series to Tufts, the Tigers have scored 10 or more runs in four consecutive games. Trinity began Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a March 20 doubleheader against Millsaps College, and took game one 23-12 in run-rule fashion. The run-rule ends a game when a team leads by at least 10 runs. In the second game of the series, Trinity had a seven-run lead, but hung on at the end for a two-run victory. Graduate student and pitcher Will Hellings aided the 10-8 win by throwing an immaculate inning in his outing. Trinity then took another run-rule win in game three on March 21 by a score of 10-0. Senior infielder Khalfani Coney hit an RBI double that scored two runs in the seventh, which the Tigers needed to secure the ten-run lead for the run-rule to take effect. Trinity is now 12-7 on the year and is 3-0 in conference play.
Softball
Tiger softball had a perfect 4-0 weekend after failing to win in their previous four games. It started with two wins against St. Olaf College on March 20, with Trinity winning game one 8-5. Trinity secured the win in the second game as well. Despite leading 4-0 in the seventh and final inning, the Tigers surrendered three runs to put the outcome in doubt. They would hang on to their lead and close the game, winning 4-3. The Tigers also hosted Bethel University for a doubleheader on March 21, and won both games by identical 3-2 scores. In the second game of the doubleheader, Trinity trailed by a run in the fifth, but scored two to take the 3-2 lead. The Tigers are now 14-5-1 on the season, and host Rhodes College on March 28 and 29 to begin SAA play.
