Hot gossip? More like ice cold Chisme. Chisme sits in the middle of what might as well be the most important street for Trinity nightlife — North St. Mary’s Street. Beloved for the multitude of affordable bars, a variety of restaurants and the Taco Truck, North St. Mary’s Street provides the perfect place for Trinity students to find solace from their studies. Chisme and their happy hour is no exception to this rule. Consisting of a small selection of $5 cocktails and snacks, Chisme happy hour delivers a relatively inexpensive way to end the weekday. Most happy hours, like runner-ups Bombay Bicycle Club and Panchito’s, offer a similar premise, but Chisme has a few unique drink options that sets it apart, including boozy agua fresca, their Marracuja Mule — passionfruit ginger beer mixed in with vodka — and their chismosa, a frozen coconut rum concoction. The food options are more of a mixed bag. The main menu has delicious tacos and some of the best guacamole I’ve had in San Antonio, for a fairly hefty price. While the happy hour snacks were large enough to be a meal for one or two to split, they were nothing special compared to the normal menu. But how could anyone — especially at Trinity — complain about free queso?
