THE ROCK BOX | SHREK RAVE | Oct. 25
Somebody once told me the lights were gonna blind me. Grab your besties and their weird-looking dragon partners to hit up The Rock Box for the silliest nation-wide rave in the world. No need to get outta their swamp; the venue has the playlist to keep things going all night long. Hear from DJ Pastiche and Mark Facet, a duo from the heart of San Antonio, and make sure to dress in your theme-appropriate costumes for extra points. Their Instagram said it best: “Therapy is expensive, so for now a Shrek themed social pit will do.”
Shrek-Themed Rave • Saturday, Oct. 25 at 9 p.m. • $25 • The Rock Box • 1223 E Houston St
ADOPT ME | DOGTOBER | Oct. 25–26
What student doesn’t need an emotional support animal? Even if it’s temporary, you can find some comfort at San Antonio Animal Care Services’ adoption and foster festival and show the puppies some much-needed love. Admission is free and will get you access to a pumpkin patch, hayrides, live music and food trucks, on top of being able to visit more than 200 adoptable dogs. There’s something for everyone, depending on how you’re doing. Feeling festive? Check out the pet costume contest. Feeling stressed? Hit up puppy yoga. How about philanthropic? Take a shelter dog out for a mini adventure. All adoptions come with a free spay or neuter as well as vaccinations and a microchip. It may be a small part of your day, but to them, it’s their whole life.
Dogtober: Adoption and Foster Festival • Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12–5 p.m. • FREE • Animal Care Services and San Antonio Food Bank Pavilion • 4710 I-151
