Mylo Mittman, junior communication major
What was your New Year’s resolution?
“My New Year’s resolution was to get out more.”
How are you trying to accomplish it?
“I reached out to some friends, and I was like ‘Hey I want to get out more, any ideas?’ and we haven’t gotten together yet, but there are plans. And it also helps that I’m taking a class called ‘Immersion Writing,’ the point of which is literally to go immerse yourself in something you’ve never done before and write about it. I’m also doing physical therapy for the first time in six years, which might not be the most exciting thing in the world, but it gets me off campus and interacting with new people.”
How is it going so far?
“So I have had a little bit of success. I am getting out of the house and hanging out with friends more. I do think there is more that I could be doing, but I’m working on that.”

Julia Trevino, sophomore biology major
What was your New Year’s resolution?
“My New Year’s resolution was to keep up with all of my assignments.”
How are you trying to accomplish it?
“Honestly, I think during the week I’ve been more productive during the day rather than at night. I used to be a big person who studied at night, so now I study during the day.”
How is it going so far?
“It’s going really well actually. You guys caught me mid-resolution.”

Hannah Ovalle, junior marketing major
What was your New Year’s resolution?
“My New Year’s resolution for this year is to actually go to all my classes on time, not miss classes and do all of my homework on time. I also do want to go to the gym more. I do club basketball here, but I feel like I still need to do cardio outside of that.”
How are you trying to accomplish it?
“Just by getting up and going to my classes. It’s really hard for me because I don’t get up to my alarm all the time. I literally put five different alarms at the same time to get up. And then going to the gym, I usually just say yes to my friends when they ask me to go, so I’m forced to go.”
How is it going so far?
“I would say it’s going pretty good. I mean we’ve only had two weeks of classes, but I haven’t been late to any of them and the gym is a little bit slow. I’ve only gone twice, but it’s going.”

Jaquacia McClaney, sophomore biology major
What was your New Year’s resolution?
“It was to go abroad and get new experiences.”
How are you trying to accomplish it?
“I applied for my passport. I applied for the programs at Trinity. I recently got into one, so I’m hoping to go for the summer to Japan.”
How is it going so far?
“It’s going pretty good. We are getting ready to buy our plane tickets and get everything ready for the trip, so I’m excited.”
Aseel Eltom, sophomore biology major
What was your New Year’s resolution?
“My New Year’s resolution is to spend more time with friends and family, especially with how stressful semesters can be.”
How are you trying to accomplish it?
“As of the winter, I’ve gotten the chance to hang out with some of my friends, and I realized that that’s such a de-stressor, honestly, and I really needed that after such a stressful semester. And then as of right now, I plan on going home every weekend and not staying on campus, because I don’t think that’s healthy honestly. I need to leave sometimes.”
How is it going so far?
“It’s going. I’ve been going home, honestly. It’s just more of being able to focus on school as well as being home at the same time is what I’m finding difficult, but I still want to be able to balance both because I can’t just focus on one and not the other.”
